At the moment, Heineken Romania own 4 breweries: Miercurea Ciuc, Craiova, Constanţa and Târgu Mureş, each of them with it’s own history, but with the same respect for the Heineken quality. Out of these breweries, the first 4 that belong to Brau Union Romania (owned by the austrian group BBAG) became members of the Heineken Group starting with 2003, and taking the Heineken Romania name from the year 2007.
Miercurea Ciuc Brewery
In the Harghita area, famous for it’s pure water and the numerous springs, there is the Miercurea Ciuc brewery, sourrunded by over 2000 sources of pure water. The brewery was built in 1974. In 1994 it is privatized, and in the year 200 the brewery merges, becomming part of Brau Union Romania.

Craiova Brewery
The brewery from Craiova started the production on the 1st of April 1970, first with the „brewing sector”, and in the following months it started also the „bottle and keg packaging process” and „malt fabrication”. The Craiova Brewey was the first brewery from the country that identified the bitter value of the hop. In 1994 it is also privatized and it changes it’s name into SC Bere Craiova SA. Three years later, in 1997, the brewery is purchased by BBAG.

Constanţa Brewery
The building process of this brewery started in 1968, and the production in „Constanta Brewery” started in June 1970. Following the example of the other breweries, this one was privatized in 1991, changing it’s name into „SC Malbera SA”. In 1997 it is bought by the austrian group BBAG, and in 2000 it merged with Brau Union Romania.

Mureş Brewery
The last aquisition of Heineken Romania is also the youngest member of the company, being built in 1992. At the start, it produced refreshements under the Jazz brand, the first tray of beer was produced in the Ungheni brewery, in 1995 (under the brads Jazz and Mureş). In June 1998 was born the Neumarkt brand. In December 1998Mureş Brewery bottled the beer in PET packaging, for the first time in Romania (under the Neumarkt brand).
