Heineken Romania teaches youngsters to respect the environment

Bucharest, 18 May 2009

Bucharest, the 18th of May 2009. Over the interval between the 18th and the29th f May, the employees of Heineken Romania will participate in the waste collecting campaign „Recycle, Raft & Race”, along with other volunteers (stars, journalists, representatives of the local NGO’s). The campaign is organized by Heineken Romania and the MaiMultVerde Association, over the interval between the 4th and the 31st of May in Buşteni, being part pf a larger environment protection program, developed by Heineken in Romania.

The CSR Heineken program is based on one of the fundamental values of the group: Respect – for the individual, the society and the environment!

„The relationship that we have bilt in time with the society prompts us to create and to promote values helping to develop a clean environment and a healthy life. Keeping the environment clean pertains to the respect towards the society and ourselves. Through this project, that is part of the CSR platform of a Heineken, we try to get directly involved in the fight against scattered waste, by volunteering included”, says Ana-Maria Mureşan, Corporate Relations Manager, Heineken Romania.

For four weeks, the participants of the Buşteni camp will gather the waste abandoned by tourists on the Prahova Valley. The collected PET bottles will be used for building four rafts that will race on the 7th of July in a surprise contest on a lake in Bucharest.

The aim of the Recycle, Raft & Race program is training 100 youngsters who will become environment volunteer leaders and will organize their own cleaning, planting, information and education programs.

Among the stars invited to participate in the project are Malvina Cervenschi, Gabriela Szabo, Radu Naum, Amalia Enache, Cabral Ibacka, Dragoş Bucurenci, Iulia Vântur and Răzvan Fodor.

The social responsibility

In the latest years, Heineken Romania has invested important resources in social responsibility programs for the protection of the environment and responsible consumption of alcohol.

Heineken Romania has five breweries in Constanţa, Craiova, Haţeg, Miercurea Ciuc and Târgu Mureş.
